It has already been 20 years since Claire and I got married.
Having spent nearly half of my life with her, I wanted to celebrate this milestone somewhere special. After debating between The Ritz-Carlton and The St. Regis Toronto, we decided to try The St. Regis this time. (The Ritz-Carlton can wait for another occasion.)
In this St. Regis Toronto review, I’ll share my honest experience, including the room, dining, and facilities.

Check-in & First Impressions

We arrived around 3:30 PM, and fortunately, our room was ready for us.
The lobby felt refined and elegant, with a clean luxury aesthetic. It wasn’t massive in size, so I imagine it could feel slightly crowded during peak hours. Still, the atmosphere was calm and welcoming.
After a seamless check-in, we headed up to our room.
Room Review – Deluxe Two Double Beds

We stayed in a Deluxe Two Double Beds Guest Room (Room 2907).

Upon entering, the minibar was immediately to the left. It was thoughtfully arranged with espresso cups, whiskey glasses, wine glasses, and bottled water (two large glass bottles). Tea was provided by SLOANE Fine Tea Merchants, a premium Canadian tea brand.

Interestingly, the refrigerator was empty—which I actually preferred. Instead of overpriced snacks we wouldn’t touch, it felt practical and uncluttered.

Further inside was the closet, which included:
- In-room safe
- Umbrella
- Slippers
- Iron and ironing board
- Bathrobes (one in the closet, the other behind the bathroom door)
Bedroom Space

The room felt comfortable for two people. Not overly spacious, but not cramped either. There was a small table with chairs and a compact sofa by the window.
Power outlets were conveniently placed near the bed with 110V sockets and USB ports. However, there were no USB-C ports—only older USB types.

One minor disappointment: the TV. It was an LG model, but for a five-star Toronto hotel, it felt somewhat small compared to the size of the wall. It didn’t ruin the experience, but it slightly underwhelmed.
View

Although marketed as a “City View,” it was more accurately a building view. Compared to other downtown Toronto hotels where you can face the CN Tower directly, this wasn’t a highlight. We actually kept the curtains closed most of the stay.
Bathroom – The Highlight of the Stay

Without question, the bathroom was my favorite part of The St. Regis Toronto.
Fully clad in marble, it instantly felt luxurious. The soaking tub was impressively large—easily spacious enough for two adults. There was also a mini TV built into the mirror (which we didn’t use, but it was a nice touch).
Premium Amenities

What truly stood out were the amenities:
- SACHAJUAN (Swedish premium haircare)
- Sodashi (Australian botanical body care)
- REN Clean Skincare (British facial care brand)
The scents were refined and spa-like, and the balance between cleansing and hydration felt excellent. It genuinely elevated the experience beyond standard hotel toiletries.
After returning home, I even looked up SACHAJUAN on Amazon—the full-size bottles retail for quite a premium. This bathroom alone delivered the ultimate “luxury hotel” feeling.

Astor Lounge & Champagne Ceremony

On the main floor, you’ll find Astor Lounge.
Every evening at 6 PM, the hotel hosts its signature Champagne Sabrage ritual. A staff member dramatically opens a bottle with a saber and serves complimentary champagne to guests in the lounge.
Yes—it is complimentary.
If you are staying at The St. Regis Toronto, I highly recommend arriving a few minutes early to secure a good seat. It’s a small ritual, but it adds a wonderful sense of occasion to the evening.
Dining at Louix Louis

For both dinner and breakfast, we dined at Louix Louis, located on the 31st floor.
The ambiance was perfect for celebrating a 20th anniversary—elegant, warm, and visually striking (especially the wall lined with bottles).
Cocktails

I tried:
- House of Common – Rich and velvety, a refined celebratory start.
- New York Sour – Balanced, not overly acidic, with a noticeable red wine finish that added depth.
Dinner

We shared the Grilled Octopus (appetizer), Lobster Risotto, and Beef Wellington.
The lobster risotto was flavorful without being overly salty. The Beef Wellington was tender and satisfying.

However, the real highlight was dessert. The King’s Cake—their 13-layer masterpiece—arrived with “Happy Anniversary” written on the plate. Visually stunning and thoughtfully presented, it became the most memorable part of the meal.
After dinner, we planned to swim—but ended up watching Netflix instead.
Breakfast

We returned for breakfast the next morning. As a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member, we received a $33 credit per person.
I ordered the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. The quality exceeded my expectations relative to the price.
Facilities – Pool, Hot Tub & Fitness Center
Thanks to a late checkout (4 PM approval), we had a relaxed morning and were able to enjoy the facilities.
Pool & Hot Tub

The indoor pool is approximately 1.2 meters deep. It’s reasonably long but standard in width for a luxury hotel. Next to it is a hot tub with strong bubble jets—perfect for relaxing.
Sauna

The locker rooms include showers and a sauna. Many guests may skip the locker area, but if you want to use the sauna, make sure to step inside.
Fitness Center

The fitness center offers impressive city views. Complimentary water and even fruit were provided—a thoughtful detail.
Parking

Valet parking costs $70 per night.
Before checkout, you can text the valet team about five minutes in advance, and your car will be ready promptly.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Stunning marble bathroom
- Premium, spa-like amenities
- Complimentary Champagne Ceremony
- Excellent anniversary-friendly dining atmosphere
Cons
- TV size felt small for a five-star hotel
- Limited city view (more building-facing than skyline)
Conclusion
I knew that St. Regis represents one of Marriott’s most premium brands, but this was my first time experiencing it firsthand.
Was it perfect? No. The TV size and the city view were slightly underwhelming.
But overall? Yes—St. Regis Toronto was absolutely worth it for a special occasion. The marble bathroom, premium amenities, Champagne Ceremony, and attentive staff made it a memorable 20th-anniversary stay.
Would I stay again? Yes—and next time, perhaps at another St. Regis in a different city.
If you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Toronto for a special occasion, The St. Regis Toronto is a strong choice.
