The Cube Hotel Review: Clean Myeongdong Capsule Hotel with Free Breakfast & Rooftop View

Last weekend, I stayed at The Cube Hotel, a capsule hotel in Myeongdong. Among all the capsule hotels I’ve stayed at so far, this one was my favorite.

It was clean, offered free breakfast, and most importantly, had a comfortable space where you can eat or get some work done. In the past, I usually had to go out to a café in the evening to work, but here, I could simply sit at the large table in the dining area with a cup of coffee and focus. That alone made a big difference.

On top of that, the N Seoul Tower view from the rooftop terrace was absolutely stunning. If a friend from overseas were to ask me for a recommendation, this would probably be my top choice for most travelers.

The Cube Hotel is about a 5-minute walk from Myeongdong Station.
If you’re coming from the airport, you can take Airport Bus 6015, or N6001 if you arrive late at night.

It’s not located right in the busiest part of Myeongdong, but it only takes about 10 minutes on foot to reach Myeongdong Street, so it’s not an issue at all.

Check-in Process

This hotel uses a self check-in system.

When you go to the reception on the 2nd floor, you’ll see envelopes prepared for guests checking in that day.
Look for the envelope with your name on it, and inside you’ll find your room number and locker password.

Lockers (Storage)

There are two types of lockers.

For large luggage, you can use the luggage storage area located between the 2nd and 3rd floors.

For smaller bags, there are lockers located right in front of the capsule rooms. Slippers are also provided inside these lockers, and you’re expected to wear them inside the building.

This is not only for convenience but also to help keep the capsule areas clean for everyone.

Inside the Capsule

My capsule was B15 — each room has multiple capsules, and mine was number 15 in Room B.
The capsule itself was quite spacious, and the wooden interior gave it a warm and cozy feel.

One detail I really liked was the light switch located at the entrance of the capsule. In many capsule hotels, the switch is inside, but having it at the entrance is surprisingly more convenient.

The bedding was clean and well-maintained. Considering that this is not a brand-new hotel, the cleanliness of the bedding clearly shows that the property is well managed.

Strong Focus on Safety

One unique feature of this hotel was the fire detection sensor installed inside the capsule.

I’m not sure if every capsule has one, but the one I stayed in did.

Each capsule room is also equipped with a fire extinguisher, and there are even throwable fire extinguishers installed between capsules.

With this level of attention to safety and cleanliness, it’s hard not to like this place.

Shower & Restroom

The shower and restroom are located in the same area.

Shampoo and body wash are provided, and both the water pressure and temperature were perfectly acceptable.

Towels are available for guests to use freely, but because of that, some people seem to use a fresh towel even just to dry their hands.

It might be a good idea for the hotel to provide separate hand towels for better management.

Breakfast & Common Area

The breakfast is simple, but the fact that it’s free is a big plus. (Breakfast is available from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.)

You can make your own sandwich using bread, ham, cheese, butter, and strawberry jam provided in the fridge, along with a glass of orange juice.

The kitchen is also equipped with an induction cooktop and microwave, making it easy to prepare your own food.

There is a large dining table where you can eat or work, and after using dishes, guests are expected to wash them so others can use them as well.

Rooftop Terrace

Another reason I really liked The Cube Hotel is the rooftop terrace.

The view of N Seoul Tower from the rooftop is fantastic. It’s also a great spot to relax with a simple drink in the evening.

Conclusion

For less than ₩50,000 per night on a weekend, this was an incredibly clean and comfortable stay.
If I get the chance, I would definitely stay here again.
